Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test
Amniocentesis
The Amniocentesis test is performed after 14 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. In this invasive test, a thin needle is used to take a sample of amniotic fluid from the uterus. However, the result of this test is 100% accurate, but it is not recommended as there is a risk of miscarriage. Therefore, after the invention of the non-invasive prenatal paternity test, the Amniocentesis test is not in use.
Chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
This invasive method for prenatal paternity DNA test uses a thin needle or tube to collect chorionic villi, small tissues that are attached to the uterine wall. These small tissues and the fetal have the same genetics. When the DNA of these small tissues is compared to the DNA of the alleged father, it gives the accurate probability of paternity. Just like Amniocentesis, this test is also not recommended. Generally, this test is performed to diagnose genetic disorders or chromosome abnormalities.
